Fun Summertime Outdoor Activities
The sun is out, the ice is off the lake, the flowers are in bloom, and the birds are singing—it’s finally time to welcome summer in White Lake! One of the biggest perks about spending your summer vacation in this beautiful landscape is being able to get back to nature. You can enjoy all of your favorite outdoor summer activities here!
Biking is big in White Lake—in large part due to the fact that we have the William Field Memorial Hart-Montague Trail State Park, a 22-mile-long paved bike path winding through the area! When you stay at our lakeside inn, you can hop on this trail right from our parking lot. Across the street from our inn, you can also rent bikes, helmets and other recreational equipment at Water Dog Outfitters.
Canoeing down White River makes a great family activity that will surely provide many wonderful memories. White River has a 3-5 mph pace and is generally 2-4 feet deep with a sandy bottom. You can rent canoes at the Happy Mohawk Canoe Livery, just a 15 minute drive from our lake front hotel. There, canoe rentals include transportation to the launch site, paddles and life vests. Rafts and tubes are also available.
White River flows through both state and national forests, and kayaking allows you to enjoy the beauty at your own pace. To organize your kayaking trip, just walk across the street from our lakeside hotel to Water Dog Outfitters. This shop rents kayaks, stand up paddle boards and other recreational equipment. Once you rent what you need, you can walk out the door and get right into the river!
