Father’s Day Fun in White Lake
Biking the Hart-Montague Bike Trail
Our lakefront hotel has wonderful access to one of the biggest draws to our area: The Hart Montague-Bike Trail. Paved over what used to be an active railroad, the trail is 22.5-miles long and will take you through woods, over streams, up and down hills, and past gorgeous vistas of West Michigan.
While on the trail, head north to New Era for lunch on a working dairy farm, go to Hart for an easy gateway to the lovely sand dunes of Silver Lake, or veer off the trail and hang around Montague and Whitehall for an ice cream cone or a beer in town.
Need bikes? The Weathervane Inn is lucky enough to have a bike rental shop extremely close to our lakeside inn — WaterDog Outfitters. Book single bikes or tandems for extremely reasonable prices.
A White River Adventure
Also available at WaterDog Outfitters are kayaks and stand up paddleboats (SUPs) for rent. Renting kayaks and SUPs is just as easy as renting bikes, and you can easily get whatever you need for a fun trip around the White Lake shoreline (12+ miles). You can even paddle to dinner! Three excellent restaurants are located around the shores of White Lake.
Looking for a canoe? Head to nearby Happy Mohawk Canoe Livery. Here, you can rent canoes for the whole family or tubes or rafts for floating down calm White River. Happy Mohawk provides all lifejackets, paddles, and transportation for a super fun trip!
Fishing
In addition to Lake Michigan, there are plenty of inland lakes in the White Lake area. So, if Dad wants to pack up his own boat and fishing gear, that’s a can-do in multiple areas around White Lake.
If, on the other hand, Dad loves to fish but doesn’t have his own boat and gear, we can still set him up! Charter fishing is a huge attraction to our area, and there are multiple charter companies who can take Dad out on the water alone or with the whole family. Remember that while Dad won’t need a boat license (the charter company will take care of that for you), you will need a Michigan fishing license.

Beaches
You simply can’t visit Montague or Whitehall in the summer without at least taking a gander at “The Big Lake” — Lake Michigan. Beaches on our section of the Lake Michigan coastline are known as the best in the state — sandy, roomy, and perfect for a day with your family. Have Young Children? Plan a Day at Lewis Farm Market!
