With May in full swing, it’s finally time to celebrate some gorgeous weather in White Lake!
All around The Weathervane Inn, we’ve got flowers blooming, shops and parks opening for the season, and Lake Michigan beaches begging for some visitors. It’s this time of year that we see flocks of folks heading up from Holland, Jackson, Lansing, and Grand Rapids to our lovely lakeside inn for some much-needed rest and relaxation.

Michigan’s Heritage Park Opens for the Season
Starting May 1 @ Michigan’s Heritage Park, 8637 North Durham Road, Whitehall
On May 1st, Michigan’s Heritage Park opens for the season! Explore 10,000 years of Michigan history in the beautiful woodland setting of the park. It’s the perfect place for a fun family excursion and a great way to get outdoors and learn something.
May hours for the park are:

Lewis Farms & Petting Zoo Is Open for the Season!
Starting May 11 @ Lewis Farms & Petting Zoo, 4180 W. M20, New Era
Lewis Farms & Petting Zoo in nearby New Era is lauded for its extensive number of kid-friendly attractions and seasonal events. This May 11, the farm is open for the season and will feature all of its well-known activities and events, including Ball Town, Jumping Pillows, Bee Popper, Barrel Train rides, and more! While you’re here, don’t forget to grab some baked goods and fudge from the gift shop!

Local favorite Checkers Morton will be performing for free at The Book Nook in Montague! Come see this jazz legend play their best numbers and have a glass of wine or a cappuccino at one of our favorite spots in town.

May 19, 7:30pm @ The Block, 360 W. Western Ave. 2nd floor, Muskegon
The Block in Muskegon always has unique performances taking place every month.
This month, Vadim Gluzman and his spouse, Tel Aviv-based pianist Angela Yoffe will be performing for an evening of classical chamber music in a truly intimate setting. The Block is just a short 20-minute drive south from our lakefront hotel.
May 26, 11am – 2pm @ Tannery Beach, 410 W Staples Drive, Whitehall
Tannery Bay Beach is kicking off summer with a super-fun beach party! Featuring free hot dogs and drinks, beach games, and a special ribbon cutting ceremony, the day will be perfect for visiting with the whole family or just with your sweetheart. You can check out the private lakeside community where new homes are available, or just enjoy a fun day on the beach!
May 27, 3pm – 6pm @ Buzz’s Lakeside Inn, Whitehall
To round out the end of the month, visit locale hot spot Buzz’s Lakeside Inn for a live performance by musician Vincent Hayes. For over 25 years, Hayes has been a touring musician, playing throughout the United States. His solo acoustic show features blues, jazz, and favorites from legends like Top Petty, Merle Haggard, John Mayer, and others!
